Question : what are some good books that I should check out? I plan on doing a lot of reading on this family vacation to avoid ripping my mother's head off. Thanks in advance!

I'm going to second the 5 People You Meet in Heaven!
Also, Atonement- Ian McEwan
The Confessions of a Shopaholic series by Sophia Kinsella
Fever Pitch or About a Boy by Nick Hornby
The Beach by Alex Garland

I love love love About a Boy! I've read it so many times it's kind of sad. I wasn't a huge fan of the Shopaholic series. I enjoyed the first book but could not stand her in the third one when she kept whining about having to choose between two perfect weddings. I wanted to stangle her! But I am so stoked on reading/seeing Atonement. I don't know if the movie's even come out here yet. What's The Beach about? It sounds intriguing!

True, the third one annoyed me too but they are easy reads! The Beach is about a British guy who travels to Thailand and through a number of circumstances finds out about this secret beach thats supposed to be paradise. Its the book that the Leo DiCaprio movie was based on!

Gotcha! I definitely saw the movie when it first came out but since that was aaages ago, I totally forget what happened in it. I will obviously be making a stop at a bookstore sometime soon!

Some Romantics classics like Vanity Fair by Thackeray. It's really long so it'll keep you busy. I'm reading it right now and I love it! Also, Life of Pi by Yann Martel if you haven't read it yet. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver - it's about a religious family that moves to the Congo as missionaries. It's really good! One of my favourites.

It's really good! You should get it. It's written from the point of view of young girls, but definitely not a child's read, haha.
